5 Steps to a Stress-Free End of the Year

Updated: Mar 5

At this time of year, there is a quickening of energy. Everything seems to go faster. Or it seems that we're running out of time. The end of the calendar year is looming, school is about to break up, annual holidays are approaching and we're planning family catch-ups.

The energy all around us has a 'rushing to complete' feeling and if we're not aware of it, it can be very easy to get caught up in this overwhelming chaotic energy ...

Our minds are running through lists - gifts we need to buy, parties we need to RSVP for and attend, reports we need to file, people we need to catch up with all before the end of the year...

I can feel your shoulders creeping up, the energy in your head whizzing around like a buzzing bee. It's happening to me as I type this. And it feels very uncomfortable. I don't like it at all.

Let's make a choice. Let's choose to observe this energy but not engage in it. I know from experience it doesn't serve anyone any good.

Instead, let's take a leap to a different vibration.

Let's hop on the smooth vibes train to a peaceful, fun, and love-filled end of the year. It's not a myth. It's not oversimplifying life. It's a choice and it's actually possible.

5 Steps to Ensure a Stress-Free End of the Year Expand for a simplified version, or keep reading below for further details.

  1. Become the observer Notice the energy around you, but don't engage in it. See the busy-ness, but don't allow it into your body. Like you're standing next to it and it's not a part of you.

  2. Breathe and pause Follow the short guided meditation I've suggested below, or choose your own. The purpose of this is to bring your energy into your highest vibration. The one that knows what you truly need.

  3. Ask yourself, 'what do I need?' In this high vibrational state, ask yourself what you need. Don't overthink it. Usually what comes to mind first will be correct. Write it down, so you don't forget it. And allow the feeling to fill your body.

  4. Bring it to life What do you need to do to bring it to life? Write down some practical things you can do to bring your actions into alignment with what your soul needs.

  5. Make your body smile Put them into action. Make these things happen and allow your body to smile and have a joy-filled end of the year.

Take a breath.

Sit down.

And gently close your eyelids.

Take another breath.

Slow and deep.

Allow your focus to follow your breath, down into your body. Allowing it to travel all the way to your pelvic floor.

Keep this deep breathing, as effortless as you are able, and follow its path through your body.

As you do, what do you notice in your body? Can you feel any tightness or tiredness?

Avoiding any judgemental feelings, allow your healing breath to fill that space.

As you breathe in, allow peace to flow through you.

As you breathe out, release that feeling that is not serving you today. Imagine as you release it, that Mother Earth takes it from you. She will sort it out. Continue this gentle, cleansing breath until you feel your body release and relax. When you're ready open your eyes.

Now, I'd like you to ask yourself, what do you need at this time?

What is it that your soul really needs? What will bring you joy? What comes to mind? Don't over think it. Write it down.

For me what comes to mind is quality time with my family. I want some laughs in the sun at the beach and by the pool. I want to spend time with my husband and kids. Yummy, healthy food, happy music and laughter. As I think further, I know some things I am going to do to make sure I get this time. I can truly feel my body smiling at me as I type this.

Your needs quite possibly look very different from mine. Because if you truly allow yourself to stop, relax, and listen... then it's what your soul truly needs ... Enjoy the feeling you have conjured, and allow that joy to fill you up. Think about the ways you can bring it to life. Make it happen and fill up your soul cup. And make your body smile. I'd love to hear what you saw. The things that you'd like to do to fill your cup.

Please share in the comments below, because perhaps someone found it harder to find theirs and if we share our ideas, perhaps it will spark something for them. If this doesn't come easily for you and you would like some help, let me know. I'd be happy to help - whether it's a simple obligation-free chat with some tips, or you'd like some more in-depth healing and exercises to learn the language of your body and soul, so that you may feel more aligned and fulfilled.

You deserve to fill your cup so that you can live your best life filled with joy. That is what you're here to do.
